Mr Murray is the founding principal of Swann Global with more than 35 years in the mining and executive search industries. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience that enables him to understand and accurately define the needs of his clients and candidates.
He enjoys close working relationships with key organizations and leaders within the mining industry globally. He is regularly invited to conduct Board assessments to leading mining groups in North America, Europe and Australasia.
He has an international reputation for the way in which he is able to add value to those who seek his advice and services. He is known for his forthright assessments and his ability to think about the industry in a unique way, often challenging the status quo.
Professor Paul Monks is Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of the College of Science and Engineering. In this role he has over-all strategic and operational responsibility for the College and is a member of University Leadership Team.
Paul Monks is a Professor in Atmospheric Chemistry and Earth Observation Science at the University of Leicester. Paul was born in St. Helens in the UK. He received his B.Sc. degree from the University of Warwick and his D.Phil. from the University of Oxford in 1991. In 1992 he took up NAS/NRC Fellowship in Astrochemistry at NASA/Goddard (USA) before returning in 1994 to the UK to work a post-doctoral position at the School of Environmental Sciences at UEA. In 1996 he was appointed to a lectureship in Earth Observation Science in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Leicester being promoted to a Readership in Atmospheric Chemistry in 2003 and a Professorship in 2007. He is a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
His research experience covers the broad areas of air quality, atmospheric composition and climate change. Paul is the chair of the DEFRA Air Quality expert group that provides independent science advice on air quality as well as a member of Defra Science Advisory Council. He is the European representative on the Environmental Pollution and Atmospheric Chemistry Scientific Steering Committee (EPAC SSC) of the World Meteorological Organisation and ICACGP (International commission on atmospheric chemistry and global pollution). Further, he sits on the Satellite Applications Catapult advisory group, the Royal Society Global Environmental Research Committee and NERC audit committee. He has just finished a term as co-chair of the IGBP-International Global Atmospheric Chemistry program.
